Lacsap’s Triangle
1 Introduction. Let us think about a triangle of divisions: Obviously, the numbers are following some example. In this examination we will attempt to clarify the hypothesis behind this course of action and to locate a general connection between the elementââ¬â¢s number and its worth. The example above is known as a Lacsapââ¬â¢s Triangle, which definitely alludes to its connection to another plan â⬠Pascalââ¬â¢s Triangle (as Lacsap seems, by all accounts, to be a re-arranged word of Pascal). The calculation behind it is extremely straightforward: every component is the total of the two components above it.However, on the off chance that we speak to a triangle as a table (beneath), we will have the option to see a theme between a file number of a component and its worth: section segment 2 0 1 2 3 4 5 column 0 1 line 1 line 2 1 2 1 line 3 1 3 1 line 4 1 4 6 4 1 line 5 1 5 10 5 1 line 6 1 6 15 20 15 6 1 It appears to be critical to us to emphasize a few focuses that this tabl e makes self-evident: ? the quantity of components straight is n + 1 (where n is a record number of a line) ? the component in segment 1 is consistently equivalent to the component in section n â⬠1 ? herefore, the component in segment 1 in each line is equivalent to the quantity of a given line. Presently when we have built up the principle successions of a Pascalââ¬â¢s triangle let us perceive how they will be communicated in a Lacsapââ¬â¢s course of action. We additionally recommend taking a gander at numerators and denominators independently, in light of the fact that it appears glaringly evident that the portions themselves canââ¬â¢t be gotten from before values utilizing the movements of the sort that Pascal employments. Discovering Numerators. Letââ¬â¢s start with introducing given numerators in a comparative table, where n is some of a column. n=1 1 n=2 1 3 1 n=3 1 6 1 n= 4 1 0 10 1 n=5 1 15 1 3 Although the triangles seemed comparative, the table shows a crit ical contrast between them. We can see, that all numerators straight (with the exception of 1ââ¬â¢s) have a similar worth. In this way, they don't rely upon different components, and can be acquired from various column itself. Presently a relationship we need to investigate is between these numbers: 1 2 3 6 4 10 5 15 If we believe various line to be n, at that point n=1 1=n 0. 5 2 n 0. 5 (n +1) n n=2 3 = 1. 5n 0. 5 3 n 0. 5 (n +1) n n=3 6 = 2n 0. 5 4 n 0. 5 (n +1) n n=4 10 = 2. 5 n 0. 5 n 0. 5 (n +1) n n=5 15 = 3n 0. 6 n 0. 5 (n +1) n Moving from left to directly in each column of the table above, we can obviously observe the example. Separating a component by a column number we get a progression of numbers every last one of them is 0. 5 more prominent than the past one. On the off chance that 0. 5 is calculated out, the following grouping is {2; 3; 4; 5; 6}, where every component compares to a column number. Utilizing a cyclic technique, we have discovered a general articulation for the numerator in the first triangle: If Nn is a numerator in succession n, at that point Nn = 0. 5(n + 1)n = 0. 5n2 + 0. 5n Now we can plot the connection between the line number and the numerator in each row.The diagram of an allegorical structure starts at (0; 0) and keeps on ascending to boundlessness. It speaks to a persistent capacity for which D(f) = E(f) = (0; ); 4 Using an equation for the numerator we would now be able to discover the numerators of further lines. For instance, on the off chance that n = 6, at that point Nn = 0. 5 62 + 0. 5 6 = 18 + 3 = 21; on the off chance that n = 7, at that point Nn = 0. 5 72 + 0. 5 7 = 24. 5 + 3. 5 = 28, etc. Another method of speaking to numerators would be through utilizing factorial documentation, for clearly Numeratorn = n! Presently letââ¬â¢s concentrate of finding another piece of the portion in the triangle. Discovering Denominators.There are two fundamental factors, that a denominator is probably going to rely upon: ? nu mber of column ? numerator To discover which of those is associated with the denominator, let us think about an after table: segment 1 segment 2 section 3 segment 4 segment 5 segment 6 5 line 1 line 2 1 2 1 line 3 1 4 1 line 4 1 7 6 7 1 line 5 1 11 9 11 1 It is currently clear, that a distinction between the progressive denominators in a subsequent segment increments by one with every emphasis: {1; 2; 4; 7; 11}, the contrast between components being: {1; 2; 3; 4}. So if the quantity of line is n, and the denominator of the subsequent segment is D, at that point D1 = 1D2 = 2 D3 = 4 and so on; at that point Dn = Dn-1 + (n â⬠1) = (n-1)! + 1; If we currently take a gander at the third section with a respect to a factorial succession, an example rises: In the arrangement {1; 1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 7;â⬠¦ ; }, on the off chance that d is the denominator of the third segment, at that point: d3 = 1 + 1 + 2 = 4 d4 = 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 d5 = 2 + 3 + 4 = 9 dn = (n â⬠2)! + 3; To check the consi stency of this progression, we will proceed with the investigation of the fourth segment. By similarity, the outcome is as per the following: Denominatorn = (n â⬠3)! + 6 (where n is various line) Therefore, it tends to be spoken to as follows:Column 2 (n-1)! +1 Column 3 (n-2)! +3 Column 4 (n-3)! +6 It is currently clear, that numbers inside the sections follow the (c â⬠1) (where c is the quantity of segment), and the numbers outside are in reality the numerators of the line of the past list number (contrasting with the segment). Subsequently, a general articulation for the denominator would be Dn = (n â⬠(c â⬠1))! + (c â⬠1)! 6 where Dn is a general denominator of the triangle n is various line c is the quantity of section Now we can utilize an equation above to figure the denominators of the lines 6 and 7. segment 2 section 3 olumn 4 segment 5 segment 6 column (6 â⬠1)! + 1 = 16 (6 â⬠2)! + 3 = 13 (6 â⬠3)! + 6 = 12 (6 â⬠4)! + 10 = 13 (6 â⬠5)! +15 =16 line (7 â⬠1)! + 1 = 22 (7 â⬠2)! + 3 = 18 (7 â⬠3)! + 6 = 16 (7 â⬠4)! + 10 = 16 (7 â⬠5)! +15 =18 segment (7 â⬠6)! + 21 = 22 Fusing these incentive with the numerators from the counts above, we get the sixth and the seventh lines of the Lacsapââ¬â¢s triangle: Row 6: 1; ; ;1 Row 7: 1; ; ;1 If we presently let En(r) be the (r + 1)th component in the nth column, beginning with r = 0; at that point the general explanation for this component would be: En(r) =Conclusion. To check the legitimacy and constraints of this general explanation let us think about the bizarre conditions: as a matter of first importance, will it work for the sections of ones (first and last segment of each column)? in the event that n = 4 r = 0, at that point En(r) = =1 on the off chance that n = 5 r = 5, at that point En(r) = =1 7 along these lines, the announcement is substantial for any component of any line, including the first: En(r) = =1 However, clearly, the denominator of this recipe can not approach zero. Be that as it may, as long as r and n are both consistently positive whole numbers (being file numbers), this restriction has all the earmarks of being irrelevant.If the numeration of segments was to begin from 1 (the first section of ones), at that point the general proclamation would appear as: En(r) = 8 Bibliography: 1) Weisstein, Eric W. ââ¬Å"Pascal's Triangle. â⬠From MathWorldââ¬A Wolfram Web Resource. http://mathworld. wolfram. com/PascalsTriangle. html 2) ââ¬Å"Pascalââ¬â¢s Triangle and Its Patternsâ⬠; an article from All you at any point needed to know http://ptri1. tripod. com/3) Lando, Sergei K.. ââ¬Å"7. 4 Multiplicative sequencesâ⬠. The Grand Chessboard Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
The Grand Chessboard - Assignment Example In the Introduction of ââ¬Å"The Grand Chessboardâ⬠by Zbignew Brzezinski, he shows how Eurasia, a blend of Europe and Asia, fundamentally held the politically influential nation through legislative issues, in view of topographical and financial qualities. This was genuine even as the Americas started colonization and eventually, the mechanical upheaval that aligned the United States with other world forces. In the twentieth century, and through a few universal wars, the improvement of innovation, economy and exchange, has quickly pushed the United States forward as a world political judge in the mind boggling connections between the nations that make up the Eurasian aggregate. In World War II, when basically the United States was attacked on its own shores just because by a remote force, the United States ventured away from its recently held position of nonintervention and vision, and joined the worldwide clash to ensure its own advantages. In doing as such, the United States turned into a worldwide capacity to be battled with on a genuine level. It very well may be securely said that without the acquaintance of the United States with the Allied forces bunch in the war, the result would have been totally different. Europe and Britain would be under the strength of Hitlerââ¬â¢s Germany, and Asia, affected by Japan, though a fairly restricted one (Brzezinski,5). From the finish of World War II, war was battled on an ideological level between Communist Russia, China and the Western forces of Europe and the United States as a feature of the ââ¬Å"Cold War.â⬠... For a long time, the Roman Empire administered the area on its most significant level, keeping up interior imperativeness and solidarity as a feature of its fruitful strength. What at last broke the Roman Empire was the division of overseeing various regions in the Empire as opposed to keeping control concentrated in one recognize, the crumbling of ethics and belief system, and a supported expansion which required penances the individuals not, at this point needed to make. At the hour of composing this book, Brzezinski saw America as ââ¬Ëstanding preeminent in the four conclusive areas of worldwide power,ââ¬â¢ those being monetary, militarily, innovatively, lastly, socially. Today, there is less matchless quality, primarily as a result of the monetary circumstance, despite the fact that the impacts are around the world, not simply in the United States. The monetary circumstance today nearly powers America to show military may in territories of the existence where changes in a r emote nation could seriously influence the American financial matters. Numerous wars in our current time are more about financial matters instead of a political philosophy, in spite of the fact that they are fairly tied connected at the hip. What is interesting about America is its impact in making exchange with different countries with an end goal to advance a vast expanse of global correspondence and tranquil collaboration to maintain a strategic distance from pointless potential clashes (Brzezinski, 28). Thatââ¬â¢s not to state that different nations are not doing this as well, however it appears the United States is sincerely busy everything major concerning world occasions and their latent capacity coming about impacts. As Brzezinski notes, to help this case, Americaââ¬â¢s incomparability has helped organization NATO, an aggregate universal security bunch with a coordinated order that speaks to the world on the loose;

French Adverbs ~ Les Adverbes
An adverb, one of the eight parts of speech, is an invariable word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. Adverbs provide information about the words they modify, such as when, where, how, how often, or to what degree something is done. See the list of some common French adverbs at the end of this lesson. Word Order with Adverbs In English, adverb placement can be arbitrary: some adverbs may be found in front of or after the verb, or even at the beginning or end of the sentence. This is not often the case in French, which has much stricter rules about placement. The following rules apply to the majority of situations, but there are exceptions. For detailed information, see my lesson on the placement of French adverbs.1. When a French adverb modifies a verb, it is placed after the conjugated verb. Nous avons bien mang. We ate well. Je regarde souvent la tl le soir. I often watch TV in the evening. Often, I watch TV in the evening. I watch TV in the evening often. à à 2. When an adverb modifies an adjective or another adverb, it is placed in front of the word it is modifying. Je suis profondment mu. I am deeply moved. Nous avons trs bien mang. We ate very well. Common French Adverbs Nearly every French word that ends in -ment is an adverb, and its English equivalent almost always ends in -ly: gà ©nà ©ralement - generally. war poems - 1348 Words
Question: Wilfred Owenââ¬â¢s poetry is shaped by an intense focus on extraordinary human experiences. Select TWO poems set for study and explore Owenââ¬â¢s portrayal of suffering and pity. Prescribed text: War Poems and Others, Wilfred Owen Wilfred Owen wrote about the suffering and pity of war from his first -hand experience at the Somme. He was appalled by the overwhelming and senseless waste of life, the ââ¬Å"human squanderâ⬠and detailed its devastating effects on young men. In both ââ¬ËDulce et Decorum Estââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËMental Casesââ¬â¢ he writes with intense focus on war as anextraordinary human experience. On the battle-field the soldiers are ââ¬Å"treading bloodâ⬠. They see the ââ¬Å"shatter o f flying musclesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"human squander / Rucked too thickâ⬠. In the hospital ward, these same menââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"eyeballs shrink tormented / Back into their brainsâ⬠. The physical pain of the battlefield is now the mental pain of shell-shock. They have waded through so much blood, flesh and carnage they cannot free their minds from the horror of it. Owen reminds us that we have treated our soldiers shamefully and are complicit in their misery and suffering. This is the final point in ââ¬ËDulce et Decorum Estââ¬â¢. The title itself works ironically, playing with the expectations of the audience who would have known the phrase, ââ¬ËIt is a sweet and fitting thing to die for oneââ¬â¢s country,ââ¬â¢ and would have expected a poem about the greatness of war. Having described the appalling death from mustard gas, he addresses his audience directly to state that it is not at all a great and glorious thing to die for oneââ¬â¢s country. Commentary Arts of the Contact Zone Essay Example For Students
Commentary Arts of the Contact Zone Essay Waking up to the sound of the waves crashing, vendors on the beach are offering fresh cold coconuts: children are playing in the warm, equatorial water. The beach is serene and quiet compared to the wild parties of the night before. The sun is warming the world is coming alive and the day beginning. You walk a little further and accommodate your route to avoid the build up of smashed bottles in the sand. A homeless man lies ahead of you. A plastic bag washes up on the shore along With a dead blowfish. When you think of the town of Educates, the vibrant barge town on the coast of Ecuador, it is inevitable to avoid seeing the griminess Of the beach. A paradise with so much beauty also bears the scars of the negligence of its inhabitants. Ecuador is a beautiful place with a complex mix of kind, and friendly, festive people who are always willing to give a helpful hand. It is a small land with great biodiversity. But be careful when you are walking to the market place: watch your wallet or purse because the chances of being mugged are very high. Also, be warned of the street vendors, who will try to sell you a bag of oranges for a dollar. On the inside, all the oranges are bad, There is a deep divide between its people that have historical roots. I come trot the Messiest or Carillon class. This class is typically regarded as the high class or the social elites in the country, The other main class is the indigenous. There has always been tension between the two social classes, Anderson says, Communities are to be distinguished, not by their falsity/genuineness, but by the style in which they are imagined (43). Supposedly, laws and the social revolution are changing the way we imagine our community: a strong united, one country. Yet reality is that we are not what we imagine ourselves. We are a deeply divided people who segregate among those who are like themselves. Most of the population is poor and in need of help. By envisioning ourselves as one community, we chose to ignore the social issues we have at hand. Taking this position assumes that since we are all one strong community, we are already helping one another and no further change is needed;yet the reality is quite the opposite. By having one people rich and the Other poor, you create an inevitable clash between the two. Pratt would define it s the following, (contact zones) refer to social spaces where cultures meet clash, and grapple with each other, often in contexts of highly asymmetrical relations of power, such as colonialism, slavery (487). Historically, the Spanish colonized the indigenous population and exploited their labor, wealth, and natural resources, Nowadays, the wealthier class includes the business owners, and the indigenous class is mainly workers. The scenario of asymmetrical power is present in Ecuador. According to this model, the dominant group will usually impose its custom on the other. In the case of Oswald Gymnasium and his art, the opposite is true. Oswald Gymnasium is an internationally recognized painter to Quiches descent who traveled throughout South America and observed the indigenous lifestyle and poverty that appeared in his paintings. Through his painting he became a well-respected activist for the rights of the poor in Ecuador and in South America. His paintings are a form of unsolicited oppositional discourse that is produced in the contact zone to challenge the status quo. This example shows how oversimplified the asymmetrical power relationships are within the contact zone. Pratt expresses a contact zone to be a struggle between NON cultures where they meet at the end With unison conclusion. It is a very topic idea, much like Anderson, that reality does not embody. The lower indigenous class makes up 70% Of the population, and though considered the lower less powerful class, take to the streets when not pleased. .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 , .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .postImageUrl , .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 , .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:hover , .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:visited , .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:active { border:0!important; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:active , .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69 .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u08ab5a4a119c250c412df2daee8d0b69:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Kurt Vonnegut EssayTherefore, the government pleases them first instead of the high-class messiest. The relationship between the two classes is much more complicated and cannot simply be portrayed as an asymmetrical power relationship between the two cultures. Miller says, considered an unsolicited parody or critique of ATTs Common Bond values, which state that we treat each other with respect and dignity, valuing individual and cultural differences (391), Treating each other others cultures with respect and dignity is merely superficial. Both classes are threatened by the opposing one. The upper class is frightened that status quo will change and that their current commodities will be lost. The lower class is afraid that they are being taken advantage of. This exposes the unpleasant, ugly truth that we try to ignore. As much as we try to hide, our ultras are deeply divided and issues of racism, intolerance, and indifference to others arise. Gymnasiums painting brings these issues to light. We all agree that they are there, but eve act as if they are being taken care of. This is not the case. Educates is still dirt under the beautiful sunset: and is inevitable to neglect the divide between its people.

Walden By Thoreau Essays - Civil Disobedience, Walden
Walden By Thoreau Most people think Thoreau to be in the shadow of Wordsworth. Thoreau strongly seeks to evade Emerson wherever he cannot revise him directly. Only "Walden" was exempt from censure. Thoreau was a kind of American Mahatma Ghandhi, a Tolstoyan hermit practicing native arts and crafts out in the woods. He was not really an oppositional or dialectical thinker, like Emerson, though certainly an oppositional personality, as the sacred Emerson was not. Being also something of an elitist, again and unlike Emerson, Thoreau could not always manage Emerson's building up a kind of Longinian discourse by quoting without citation. "Walden," for its incessant power, is frequently uneasy because of an unspoken presence, or a perpetual absence that might as well be a presence, and that stated in Thoreau's journal: Emerson does not consider things in respect to their essential utility, but an important partial and relative one, as works of art perhaps. His probes pass one side of their center of gravity. His exaggeration is of a part, not of the whole. This is only a weak misreading of Emerson. However, it attributes to Emerson what is actually Thoreau's revision of Emerson. Thoreau was also a kind of Gnostic, but the rebel Thoreau remained a Wordsworthian, reading nature for evidences of a continuity in the ontological self that nature simply could not provide. "Walden" is considered as both a simple and a difficult text, simple in that readers feel a sense of unity. It is difficult in that they have been persistently perplexed and occasionally exhorted in form. The primary question is to seek what Walden means. There is also the concern with Walden's style. Walden's meaning can be explained in two different ways. The first is by introducing a distinction between form and content which simultaneously focuses attention on the question of form and reduces content to little more than banning. From the first move follows the more interesting and more pervasive second meaning. The preoccupation with Walden's formal qualities turns Walden's meaning in a simple sense. The assertion is to examine the form of any literary artifact, which is to identify its essential unity, thus the concern with Walden's structural wholeness is integrated well in the book. In other words, one can say that the common moral of "Walden" is the virtue of simplicity. Thoreau substituted words like poverty, a word which set him apart from his materialistic neighbors. "By poverty," he said, "simplicity of life and fewness of incidents, I am solidified and crystallized, as a vapor or liquid by cold. It is a singular concentration of strength and energy and flavor. Chastity is perpetual acquaintance with the All. My diffuse and vaporous life becomes as frost leaves and spiculae radiant as gems on the weeds and stubble an a winter morning." Such poverty or purity was a necessity of Thoreau's economy. By simplicity, which Thoreau called poverty, his life becomes concentrated and organized. "Walden" filled Thoreau's immediate need of self-therapy. In this perspective, "Walden" is the resolution Thoreau was able to fulfill through art. He had effected his own resolution through cautious endeavor and mature serenity. However, this serenity of Thoreau, is a victory of discipline. He says it is the highest aim in life, which requires the highest and finest discipline. To become one with Nature is to become a soul reflecting the fullness of a being. His desire to perceive things truly and simply resulted in his belief that fatal coarseness is the result of mixing trivial affairs of men. In order to justify his devotion to purity he wrote "Walden." He believed that when men is able to find his natural center, a promise of the higher society man is possible. Like other works of his time, it has the unique effort of American romanticism. It has impressive individualism and the desire for experience. In the end, Thoreau stated that if a man's writings are interpreted more than one version, it is considered a ground for complaint. He wanted "Walden" to be a fact truly and absolutely stated, otherwise he would have considered it a failure if is served only to communicate an eccentric's refusal to go along with society, if taken literally. "Walden" is an experience of the cosmic travels of the self. At Walden pond, he wrote that the imagination of oneself is the best symbol of our life. He went to Walden pond because he wanted to find a place where you can walk and think with the least obstruction. He wanted a road where he could travel and to

Pollutants, their impacts, and mitigation of harmful effects Essay
Pollutants, their impacts, and mitigation of harmful effects - Essay Example Despite all these impacts that acid rains poses to health and the environment, all is not lost because programs and laws have been put in place to mitigate these impacts. Acid rain has two main causes. These include the natural causes and the human causes (Jakubiak, 2012). Volcanic eruptions are the leading natural cause of acid rain. Erupting volcanoes contain different chemicals in the gaseous form of sulfur dioxide that get mixed up with oxygen and water in the atmosphere and dispersed to other large areas by wind pattern. These may then fall down as acid rain. Other natural causes of acid rain include the rotting of vegetation that also leads to the production of sulfur dioxide. Sea sprays can sometimes cause sulfur dioxide to be released into the atmosphere. Lightening and bacterial decomposition are also natural causes of acid rain because they lead to the generation of nitrogen dioxide, which when mixes with water and oxygen, falls back as acidic rain. Apart from the natural cause of acid rain, human activities have contributed a great deal to these rains. Some of these activities include burning of fossil fuels and running of factories and automobiles, which lead to emission of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. The emitted gases then react with oxygen, water, and various chemicals to form acidic compounds such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate. Wind will blow these acidic compounds over large areas and they will fall back to the ground as acid or any other form of precipitation such as fog, sleet, mist or snow. Acid rain as Jakubiak, (2012) explains, comes in two main forms that are wet deposition and dry deposition. The wet deposition occurs when wind blows acidic chemicals in the air to areas where the weather is wet causing the acid to fall in the form of rain, fog, sleet, mist or snow. It affects large numbers of plants, animals and aquatic life when it flows through the ground. The acid water flows to rivers

Criminal justice - Essay Example As an account to the shaking history of humanitarian catastrophes as well as undoubtedly horrifying awakening to the 20th century in the face of the events leading to Worldââ¬â¢s FIRST WORDL WAR and the events following it, this article will look into the region most recently in headlines for its problems coming undisturbed straight from the time of start of the century, the BALKANS. The rest of the article also discusses the phenomenon that has now deeply rooted itself in the labyrinths of our minds as an everlasting memory which is being refreshed time and again by the terrorists. We will also look into the impact of the fall of soviet unionand its effect on global terrorism.Balkans is the transit of civilization. It is seen as a connection between three great cultures, the Asian, European and the African culture. And when we have such a strategic and delicate place to be living in, there are bound to be some rifts and discontent among the people who donââ¬â¢t recognize themselves with respect to the region of their birth. Anything can happen right from local interests up to the global interests fighting for the domination over the whole area. And whenever we have wars resulting from the rift, we have political fragmentation and making more states. The initial ottoman empire that was thrown out of the power by the mutual wars that the surrounding countries exercised upon it could not stand up from there and was thrown out along with its rich and ancient culture (along with its historical domination with respect to culture, people and the heir). ... Separation , cruelty and hatred between small ethnic groups developed end of 18th and 19th century because that was the time when the European power: the balance between Russian and Turkish powers was very important and the small Balkan nation demanding its own authority was not given a thought and expectations from Europe to decide upon some conclusion was depressing. The Balkan word is of Turkish origin meaning rocky mountains and this area consists of five states namely Albania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania. The geographical condition Criminal justice 4 of Balkans divides the east from the west Europe. The Balkans is under equipped in terms of communication it is cut off from Adriatic coast, lacks fertile land and the people of the area are separated and there is a tendency towards social isolation and further complimented by divergent temperatures. The Balkan region is primarily dependent on agriculture and the industrialization is on a very small scale, and there is a scarce rainfall and larger density of population lives on cultivable land, which is very less. There is wide variety of languages, religions and races that contribute to political divisions and social schisms and historical events have resulted in perpetual minority problems. Due to this varied pedigree of people there was tension and rivalry among them but even after the balkan wars of 1912-1913, the concluding WWI peace treaties around 6 million people were under the permanent ethnic minority groups and these were the sources of tension and rivalries. Poor economic conditions have usually led to political instability, power politics and dictatorial regimes.[1] TERRORISM IN BALKANS Terrorism and the Balkan

Introduction to Organizational Politics Essay Example for Free
Introduction to Organizational Politics Essay This piece consists heavily of quotations from and adaptations of material from several sources (see references at the end). There still may be some unreferenced quotations because I have lost track of their genesis over many years of moving content through various notes. I dont claim originality, other than the choice and organizing of material Rex Mitchell. Pfeffer (1992, p. 30) defined politics as the processes, the actions, the behaviors through which potential power is utilized and realized. Another author (Dubrin, 2001 , p. 92) defined organizational politics as informal approaches to gaining power through means other than merit or luck. It could be argued that politics are used primarily to achieve power, either directly or indirectly, e. g. , by being promoted, receiving a larger budget or other resources, or gaining desirable assignments. Many people regard organizational politics as something negative (e. g. , pursuing selflnterests at the expense of others) and something to be minimized. Consequently, although most people know that organizational politics are common, they avoid saying so when it concerns one=s own ehavior. It is more common to talk about politics when complaining about a loss to a friend than it is in the context of ones own political maneuvering. When we win on an issue, we call it leadership; when we lose, we call it politics. In many organizations, politics is a taboo subject, which makes it difficult for individuals to deal with this crucially important aspect of organizational reality. I believe a leader must skillfully use organizational politics to acquire and retain power and to accomplish major goals. Therefore, it would be a mistake to pretend that politics does not exist or to antasize that a leader can be effective without appropriate (and ethical, I would add) use of politics. As Pericles wrote over 2500 years ago, Just because you do not take an interest in politics doesnt mean politics wont take an interest in you. I regard organizational politics as neither good nor bad, per se, although it is important for us to distinguish between ethical and unethical political behavior.

English A Summerââ¬â¢s Reading Respect is a very dominant and important factor in the story of Bernard Malamud, ââ¬Å"A Summerââ¬â¢s Reading.â⬠The reach for respect from the people around him causes a lot of dilemma within the main character, George Stoyonovic. And those dilemmas led to consequences that George hated. George, a high school drop out, can not get any job during one summer. He decides to read the magazines found at home. But when he met Mr. Cattanzara, he immediately lies about the hundred books he is reading, in order for Mr. Cattanzara to respect him as well as to be proud of him. Respect is a form of acknowledgement of oneââ¬â¢s existence. Respect is very important to everybody. Respect also gives a person a sense of confidence that he is not a failure and contradicts the idea that he is not good enough. People want respect because they want others to know how good they are. Though everybody wants it, most people often take it for granted. The irony of it all is that people wants it so much that they would do anything just to get it. In the story, the theme Respect is very important for everybody was shown a couple of times. An example of these scenes is when George was contemplating whether or not he should attend the night classes. ââ¬Å"He has considered registering in a night high school, only he did not like the idea of teachers always telling him what to do. He felt that they had not respected him.â⬠He decides that since he has nothing to do at home, attending night-class would be great and it would help him catch up on the lessons he has missed. But that the idea of teachers telling him what to do causes George to think twice. He thinks that when his teachers tell him what to do or should not do it shows a lack of respect on the teachersââ¬â¢ part. He then feels that he is not good enough and loses confidence in himself. But in reality, when people tell you what to do, it means that they are concerned about you and that they know that you can do better but it does not really mean that you are not good enough as a person. They are actually acknowledging your abilities and your capabilities which also acknowledge your existence. George searches for respect because it is where he gets the confidence that will enable him to move on forward with his life. Another instance in the story where it shows respect is very important is when George tells Mr.

Litreature Review on Banking Essay
It was emphasized that the use of computers changes the processing, storage, retrieval and communication of financial information and may affect the accounting and internal control systems employed by a bank. The potential for human errors in the development, maintenance and execution of computer Information Systems may be greater than in manual systems, due to level of details inherent in these activities. Through audit reviews, a thorough look and understanding of IS in bank can be seen. The audit of IS would provide us general understanding of IS in bank, managing authentication of users, access control, data security, data integrity, audit 14 2. Literature Study and Analysis logs, testing, accounting entries, data migration, network and RDBMS security, business continuity and disaster recovery plans, hacking, identification of transaction for substantative checking, use of reports generated by system and documentation. The paper titled ââ¬Å"Application of IT in Bankingâ⬠by K. S. Rajashekara (2004), talked about impact analysis of IT on banking. The problem of doing proper impact analysis is due to difficulty of measuring output accurately when the quality of service is changing as a result of such factors as convenience, speed, and lower risk. Through IT, banks anticipate reduction in operating costs through such efficiencies as the streamlining back office processing and elimination of error-prone manual input of data. Owing to IT, bank can offer new products and services. Banks are able to develop and implement sophisticated risk, information management system and techniques with more powerful data storage and analysis technologies. IT has positively affected the stakeholders of bank like management, employees, and customers. Vasant Godse (2005) in paper titled ââ¬Å"Technology: An Impact Analysisâ⬠talked about role of Information Technology in banking. Banks faced the enormous task of re-orienting their technology infrastructure towards such interactive decision support and information gathering tools, much different from transaction processing and final accounting. The impact of technology could be on relationship with information technology providers, organizational aspects, banker-customer relationship, control and supervisory aspects, new concepts and processes, which help in further gaining competitive advantage. 15 2. Literature Study and Analysis A paper titled ââ¬Å"Information Orientation: People, Technology and the bottom lineâ⬠by Donald A. Marchand, William J. Kettinger, John D. Rollins (2000), stressed upon the effective usage of information for business performance. It was stressed that IT improved business performance only if combined with competent information management and the right behaviors and values. The research was applied on banks. Banks were evaluated on three broad scales i. e. IT Practices (including IT practices for Operational support, IT for Business-process support, IT for Innovation support, IT for Managerial support); Information Management Practices (Sensing information, Collecting information, Organizing information, Processing information, Maintaining information); Information behaviours and values (Information Integrity, formality, control, sharing, transparency, proactiveness). Companies that incorporated a people-centric, rather than merely techno-centric, view of information use and that are good at all three information capabilities would improve their business performance. A paper titled ââ¬Å"Understanding the impact of IT-based coordination on the performance of Information-intensive firms: A Gestalt approach in Banking Industryâ⬠by Yannis A. Pollalis (2003), moved towards the development of such an explanatory and predictive model of IT-based performance by distinguishing coordination) three that types impact of the organizational performance systems of integration (or nformation-intensive organizations: Technological Integration (i. e. the integration of various IT components such as data, applications telecommunications, and systems); Functional integration ( i. e. , the coordination of responsibilities and roles 16 2. Literature Study and Analysis across a firmââ¬â¢s value-chain activities between corporate and IT planning activities); a nd Strategic integration (i. e. effective decision-making at all levels, increased productivity and better return on investment). The organizations with coordinated elements (i. e. strategy, structure, and technology) will be more successful than uncoordinated ones. Banks were chosen as the context for the empirical phase of the study because of their high information intensity and their focus on customer service and cost management. The research indicated the existence of successful and unsuccessful patterns of integration, that is, certain combinations of technological, functional, and strategic integration might lead to better or worse performance. Strategic and Technological integration were found to be most important elements of success, which indicated the importance of consistency between echnological and strategic infrastructure. The paper titled ââ¬Å"Learnings from Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Implementation in a Bankâ⬠by M. P. Gupta and Sonal Shukla (2004) attempted to highlight the learnings from CRM implementation in the banking sector. CRM systems were particularly relevant to ret ail financial services companies, allowing much of the management of the customer relationship to be automated with the objective of maximizing the profitability of individual customer relationships while minimizing the cost of managing those relationships. The study was supported by a case study of CRM systems in a major Japanese Bankââ¬âBank of Mitsubishi and also a field survey of scenario in Indian banking sector. The various issues examined included organizational information, the CRM strategy, strategic changes resulting from CRM 17 2. Literature Study and Analysis implementation, implementation priorities for the banks and the factors indicating the performance after CRM implementation. The study revealed that CRM was gradually picking up and was definitely considered as a viable proposition by banks in improving services to their customers. One of the major challenges experienced during implementing CRM was resistance to change. To get CRM to work, high commitment was required in those who were implementing it. The paper titled ââ¬Å"Impact of Information Technology on the Indian Banking Sectorâ⬠by Harmeen K. Soch and H. S. Sandhu (2003) emphasized that impact of IT on banking was so radical that it would be a key determinant of success or failure in the industry, a key determinant of whether banks as a recognizable grouping continue to exist, and a key determinant of the differentiation between competitors in financial services.

Responsibility Page 1 What is the meaning of Responsibility? Definition Essay Karen Bannan Writing 101 Professor Leone January 30, 2011 Responsibility Page 2 The ultimate word in life is ââ¬Å"responsibilityâ⬠. What is responsibility you ask? Responsibility is ââ¬Å"doing the right thingâ⬠. Doing the right thing means living a life where every move or decision you make is all your own and you do things that will not harm others. It is a moral belief that as individuals we must behave ethical and be accountable for our actions, and be conscious of our decisions and the impact it has on society. In todayââ¬â¢s world I believe we have even more responsibilities then our ancestors. If we do not take responsibility for our actionsâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦So many people believe freedom means you have the right to do as you please, however, that is not 100% true. As soon as you stop taking responsibility for what you do in life, it is almost certain you will be doing things that will be harmful to others. This is why it is so important to have laws that society must abide by. As an example, letââ¬â¢s say you are having a get together and you have you stereo on a little too loud. To you and the people attending your party the music is just fine, but to your neighbors it is entirely too loud and disruptive. Wouldnââ¬â¢t you be a responsible person if you made sure that the music was loud enough for you and your guests to enjoy, but not too loud that it would annoy your neighbors? Responsibility Page 4 When one recognizes that they are 100% responsible for their life, they will soon see the great achievements that come with being a responsible person. Responsibility is a very valuable trait in all that we do. Taking responsibility for oneââ¬â¢s self leads to a more optimistic life and one is able to accomplish all that they want. Sometimes taking responsibility can be a very difficult thing, but in the end one is usually happy that they did. FAS infants are also at an increased risk for many common birth defects, including congenial heart disease, abnormalities of the urinary tract and genitals, and spina bifida. Further research is being done to help find ways that will block some of alcohols harmful effects on the fetus. Answer: Introduction The company was founded in 2003 and has a market value of about three hundred million Australian dollars in market value. The companys successful operations are growing very fast as a result of innovation and entrepreneurship (Simpson, 2014). The company has made a strategic expansion into Brazil which a lot of mine resources so that it can increase its annual output. This report seeks to discuss the processes of innovation and entrepreneurship in Fortescue Metals Group Ltd and offer recommendations for improvements. Definition of terms Entrepreneurship is a term that is used to refer to the process of seizing or creating an opportunity and pursuing it whether there are resources that are currently controlled or not (Gandhi et al., 2015). Entrepreneurship is considered to take place both at an individual level or organizational level. Entrepreneurs are individuals who possess enterprise and are ready to take risks to seize opportunities that exist within the organization (Galindo Mndez, 2014; Santos, Navarro, Kaszowska, 2016). An entrepreneur owns and operates the business with the expectation of getting financial profit. Fortescue Metals Group Ltd is an example of a corporate entrepreneur. Intrapreneurship is a process by which individual in an organization pursue an opportunity independent of the resources that he/she currently control (Kuratko, Hornsby, Hayton, 2015). It entails the framing the mindset and behaviors for the outside to create and build a business (Karlsson Warda, 2014; Mro?ewski, Kratzer, 2016). It suffices to mention that small businesses and corporate are required enhancing innovativeness to prosper and gain competitive advantage (Ester Maas, 2016). Fortescue Metals Group Ltd has employed several intrapreneurs who create new products and ideas. Innovation is defined as the successful commercial and implantation of new ideas, technology, and knowledge (Agarwal, Thiel, 2014; Kuratko, Hornsby Hayton, 2015). It has to do with the conversion of new ideas into meaningful socio-economic well-being. The innovative process is deemed to extend from the time of inception of ideas to the actual commercial release. This process entails production, distribution, and consumption (Spinosa, Schlemm, Reis, 2017). Thus, innovation is a process which integrates economics, entrepreneurship, management, and science and technology. It suffices to point out that innovation is also dependent on the collective effort in an organization (Berger Kuckertz, 2016). Overview of Innovation and Entrepreneurship theories Several theories have been posited to explain the motivation for entrepreneurship and innovation (Berger, Kuckertz, 2016; Kuratko, Hornsby Hayton, 2015). Frank Knight developed one such theory. He developed the Risk Bearing Theory which argues that risk is an important trait in entrepreneurship (Agarwal Thiel, 2014). According to Frank Knight, uncertainty is a critical factor in production. According to this theory, an entrepreneur gets profit which acts as a reward for taking risks (Cunha, dos Santos, Sereno-Ramirez, 2016). A different view of an entrepreneur is given by Alfred Marshalls theory of entrepreneurship. In this theory, entrepreneurship is vital in organizing the other factors of production that include labor, organization, land, and capital (Santos, Navarro, Kaszowska, 2016). Schumpeters Innovation Theory posits that an entrepreneur is an individual with foresight, creative, and innovative (Galindo Mndez, 2014; Spinosa, Schlemm, Reis, 2017). In this case, an entre preneur is an individual who can locate new sources of raw material, can develop new ideas, discover new markets, and comes up with new production means (Simpson, 2014; Mattingley, 2014). These theories are essential in explaining the trends and emerging issues in innovation and entrepreneurship (Karlsson Warda, 2014). The company recognizes that technology is integral in its operations (Simpson, 2014). Fortescue Metals Group Ltd is working towards developing innovative ways of protecting, preserving, and conserving the environment (Simpson, 2014). It is vital to mention that sustainable development can only be achieved through environmental protection (Agarwal, Thiel, 2014). The company has been paying over one billion Australian dollars in royalties, taxes, and other government assessments. The company has invested heavily in the construction of more kilometers of railways (Simpson, 2014). The company has invested in power stations, port, roads, and several housing units. Fortescue Metals Group Ltd has operations that span four mines in Pilbara. These four mines include Christmas Creek mine, Cloudbreak mine, Solomon Hub and the Kings Valley mines (Mattingley, 2014). The company operates and owns an integrated supply chain. In the value chain of Fortescue Metals Group Ltd, innovation design and process is a key component of the strategy to compete in the challenging industry standards ( Simpson, 2014). The value chain enables the company to be more effective and efficient in delivering its product suite from the mine zones to the market. Successful enterprises lay emphasis on strong value chains for sustainability (Berger Kuckertz, 2016). The company is conducting extensive research in exploration and discovery so as to identify valuable iron deposits. Through exploration and discovery, the company has been able to continuously produce quality goods for the market (Simpson, 2014). Additionally, the company has efficient extraction and recovery mechanisms. The companys ability to use innovative technologies that match the requirement of its iron ore deposits is evident. In fact, the company boasts of the best technology in the mining sector in Australia (Mattingley, 2014). Furthermore, through continued innovation, the company has created a state of the art processing facilities (Simpson, 2014). Efficient production is essential in reducing the production costs and increases the profit margins (Carayannis Samara, Bakouros, 2015). The company has the iron ore processing facility that is designed for wet processing is central to optimizing output. Regarding transporting the mined iron ore to the port, the company has the heaviest haul rail which has a total of forty-two-ton axle load. The innovative trend at the company has seen the development of heavy haul railway track and the five berths Herb Elliot Port. The company has exploited the accessibility to China as a result of a shorter seaborne journey from Port Hedland to China (Simpson, 2014). This accessibility has strengthened the relationship between the company and its stakeholders and customer. Globalization is central in influencing business activities in the modern times (Ester Maas, 2016). Companies should focus on developing mechanisms for meeting global standards to remain competitive (Cunha, dos Santos, Sereno-Ramirez, 2016). Further, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd has engrained innovation in its approach to business (Mattingley, 2014). Indeed, Forte scue Metals Group Ltd is the first company in the world to control a railway which is outside of operation. Additionally, through innovation, the company has a reputation of using CAT autonomous haulage technology (Simpson, 2014). This technology is being used on a commercial scale. The companys port is designed to facilitate easy blending and stockpiling. The design has therefore improved the rate of production of iron ores to meet the market demand. In respect to this, the company has been able to maintain loyal customers (Mattingley, 2014). It is imperative to note that for a company to maintain its high-value customers, it must sustain the quality of its products. To further increase efficiency, the company has invested in ship loading (Simpson, 2014). Fortescue Metals Group Ltd has invested in three ship-loaders, five berths that are meant to maximize utilization and the out-load capacity. It is also imperative to point out that Fortescue Metals Group Ltd has invested in intensive market research. The objective of the market research is developing favorable marketing practices (Simpson, 2014; Mattingley, 2014). The company is helping its customers to achieve the best value in the use of the products sold to them. Also, the company has developed a strategy that is aimed at expanding its international market base. The company has, therefore, invested in shipping to deliver goods to international customers according to their specifications (Mattingley, 2014; Simpson, 2014; Galindo Mndez, 2014). It suffices to point out that Fortescue Metals Group Ltd is committed to enhancing indigenous employment (Kuratko, Hornsby Hayton, 2015). The company h as developed a training program that has helped in creating over sixty-thousand jobs in Australia. Fortescue Metals Group Ltd has created Vocational Training and Employment Center (VTEC) which has been integral in producing young entrepreneurs (Simpson, 2014). Recommendations To realize greater productive and gain the competitive advantage, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd should implement a raft of recommendations discussed hereunder. Firstly, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd should invest in open innovation so as to improve its production levels and gain entry into new global markets. The open innovation will enhance its revenue base and improve its rate of return on investments. Open innovation strategy will enable the company to improve its technology and acquire more patents in other countries. Secondly, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd can enhance its management system.
